The Fraggles
The Fraggles were a small punk/ska band (often self-referred to as "softcore dork punk") from Metairie, Louisiana, a suburb of New Orleans. The band was formed in late 2000 and lasted a mere year or so after that. The band consisted of Geoff Gauchet (vocals), Jacob Mayer (vocals/trumpet), David Falati (bass), Drew Bascle (rhythm guitar/vocals), Adam Shackleton (drums), and Steven Brien (guitar).
At the end of 2001, lead vocalist Geoff Gauchet received a Cease & Desist order from the Jim Henson Company's legal department for copyright infringement for the use of the Fraggle name. They were ordered to relinquish their domain name (thefraggles.net, which now redirects to the Henson Company's website) as well as cease use of The Fraggle's name.
The band had one show scheduled already before a new name was chosen. As a result, they went under the pseudonym "At the Drive-Thru," poking fun at At the Drive-In, a band of which the former Fraggles were fans. Unfortunately, the show promoter put At the Drive-In on the fliers and a huge crowd showed up to the small venue (formerly Cypress Hall in Metairie, LA). People were upset that the nationally known act would not be performing and a sign stating that "At the Drive-In is actually At the Drive-Thru, formerly The Fraggles."
After this, which would be their last show, the band fought over naming the band and Gauchet and bassist David Falati left the band. Local bassist Geoff Ward joined the band under its new name, Marc with a C.
The Fraggles, as an artist, can also refer to the Muppets created by Jim Henson from the children's television series "Fraggle Rock." Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
